Want More Blog Traffic? Forget About Technorati And Try This Fast Trick

Most bloggers focus on technorati to boost their traffic ranking and thus getting more readers to their blog.

Today I have an alternative to that called back-linking. This is a fast & easy to implement trick.

All you need is a web site of your own. Yes, if you have a site, you can add your blog URL to it. The only requirement would be that both urls are in the same niche or sub-niche because you don’t want to have a link on a cat-related site going to a dog-related blog.

Know what I mean?

This is an often misunderstood tactic which most bloggers and site owners rarely apply to their sites.

Here’s why you’d want to add the blog url to your current site:

1. Blogs are tracked in real-time. As I publish this post, blog search engines like technorati get notified about this blog entry. This means your new entries get linked to instantly.

2. Blogs are much easier and more often updated than regular web sites. That’s not a secret anymore. You don’t have to create a new page for each and every new article you write. You simply write the post and publish it. WordPress will take care of this all by itself. Your increase in content will boost your visibility and get you more links.

3. Blogs get linked by other blogs, period. If you run a regular web site that isn’t a blog, you will have a harder time getting links from bloggers because we mostly read and follow other blogs which have up-to-date content, and rarely link to stand alone sites.

Your mission right now is to implement this tip. If you already have a back-link to your blog url on your site, congratulations!

How to Have Fun and Get More Blog Traffic with 43 Things – at NO Cost

Getting traffic online should not be hard nor boring. In fact, it has to be fun especially now when we see these social media and web 2.0 sites spring like crazy.

While most traffic getting strategies and tactics are dull and boring, there are a few who are quite fun to implement. And one of them is exposed in today’s tip.

Before I tell you about it, let me share with you a key aspect about getting traffic online:

*** this should not be a goal in itself. In fact, if you network with other people, and when you publish great content on your blog, the traffic floods in, all by itself.

Here’s the service which makes things easier – 43 things dot com.

you can join 43 Things and write a list of ’43 things’ you want to achieve (include your blog url in the list too).

If you did not hear about this yet, you can now learn more:

43 Things is the world’s most popular online goal setting community. It’s free and fun. All you need is to create your account at 43 things dot com.

Here are some of its cool benefits:

  1. List your goals. What do you want to do with your life? 43 things helps you figure it out.
  2. Record your progress. Ask questions and talk with like-minded people.
  3. Cheer people on the site who inspire you (hint – they may cheer you back)

If you want to get more blog traffic, all you have to do is this:

A. create an account with your real name as the user name (this is needed for branding purpose and to expose your name out there as you have to be visible, or you’ll get little traffic and results)

B. when you create your profile, make sure you take advantage of all its options. There are fields where you can include your blog/site url – that’s how you’re going to be visible to anyone viewing your profile (it’s smart you write a short description about yourself in the “About me” option.

C. be pro active on this site on a regular basis. If you expect a flood of traffic by posting just a few times, you’re doing yourself a disservice. You better try something else.

D. create several ‘goals’ list so that you become a more visible person, thus getting you more profile views (indirectly). I think it’s ok to include mentions to pages on your blog url within your list content for as long it’s targeted to your goal(s).

The 43 things FAQ page is a good helper by the way.

I plan to pay closer attention to this service and will play with it for awhile as it looks quite interesting and I can see its potential in terms of networking with other people, making friends and getting blog traffic

Just remember – getting traffic shouldn’t be an aim in itself.

In the next post (within 7 days) I’ll send an update to show my 43 things list/profile and share my results with you, just stay tuned.

How Extra Content Makes Extra Money and Gets More Traffic

Last week I talked about How to Have Fun and Get More Blog Traffic with 43 Things – at NO Cost and promised to send you new updates.

I have some good and bad news.

The bad thing is that I got my account suspended by 43 things. Not by the owner, but my their users.

This is an open community where what you say is important and members are watching closely.

So if you include anything about self-promotion or self-branding in your ‘goals’ lists, you have a high chance to get your account suspended.

I have learned a good lesson. Before you start using a new service, carefully read their terms & rules.

Learn what you are allowed to do, and what you do not.

Self-promotion and getting traffic it doesn’t have to be our main GOAL. Promotion, in fact, is the end result of our writing and experience sharing effort.

If you want more traffic, focus on writing more content, or delivering more value via your blog or newsletter (list).

That’s it. That’s the big secret. And Gurus seem to label it in different forms. What a shame.

Now, for today’s tip, read further to discover why providing more value than other blogs and sites is crucial to getting more traffic at no cost via blogging.

For reasons you will understand in just a second, this could be the most important TIP you will ever read about how to receive free traffic.

This is how EXTRA content makes EXTRA money and gets more traffic:

the more you GIVE, the more you GET (money & traffic).

You have to give away stuff (e.g. advice, articles, tips, tools, scripts, ebooks, videos, audios, etc.)

When you give things to others, people will feel to give you similar stuff in return (as a reward).

That’s what blogging is all about. That’s why I keep creating new content on a regular basis.

I’m not going to impress you with what I know or what I’ve discovered. I want to share with you these things
because I enjoying doing it. And whenever I recommend a product or release a program, most readers will jump on my promotion because they trust me.

WHY?

Because I give away free top-notch content, and do it regularly.

Lesson learned today
:

extra content makes extra money and gets more traffic.

Give away staff, and you get paid in return accordingly. Give more stuff away, and get more traffic as a reward.

Everybody is doing this mistake – we want to 100+ visitors per day to our blogs, yet we only publish one article per week.

This is not how the Universe works. You’ll be rewarded by the quality and quantity of how much you deliver to the others. Value is everything. The more you give, the more you receive, period.

Yeah, I know, that sounds common sense, yet most people are not leaving by it.
