A question I got asked many times since I started blogging was this one: how often should a blogger post?

The answer is not a strict rule. I don’t have a secret recipe that anybody could apply on any type of blog. There’s no such thing. Yet I have a good strategy which proves to be very powerful when you use it wisely.

FACT: you could publish every day and still get less traffic than folks publishing once per week.

To be honest, the frequency of blog posting is NOT a guarantee that you’ll get quality traffic.

If you want to get no-cost quality and targeted traffic you have to follow these aspects:

publish frequently. What I mean with this is that if you set to a bi-weekly publishing schedule, stick to it.

give link love. In almost all the postings which I write I make sure to include links to other blogs and postings. This ensures I provide further resources for readers to check out, plus I get the attention of other bloggers and blog readers on other people’s blogs, thus getting more back-link traffic.

create two niche-targeted blogs on the same domain. One in the domain root, and one in a sub-domain.

I could use this strategy as follows:

RemarkableBlogging.com as the main blog, and RemarkableBlogging.com/blog as the second blog.

This will be used mainly to attract Google and search engine traffic. Doing so you could publish even 10 posts per day and NOT annoy your regular readers and visitors.

This is wise especially if you’re providing free blog alerts (updates) by e-mail.

Nobody would like to get their inbox flooded with 10 e-mails per day from the same blog. That’s crazy.

Here’s what happens when you publish 10 posts (less or more) on the sub-domain blog.

You’ll be able to attract traffic quickly & easily from Google and other search engines, not to mention the big RSS and blog directories like Technorati, and dozen others.

It’s a known fact that each and every time you publish a new post, you get indexed in Google and each post could give you one, two more more loyal readers.

Do the math. 10 readers per day, that’s 300 per month. In a year you could have 3650 readers.

The problem of most bloggers is that you probably don’t have enough time for writing 10 postings, right?

Who tells you’d have to do this all by yourself?

You could hire others (outsource) to come up with new content on a regular basis, or get guest authors to publish red-hot content frequently. I love the second strategy because it’s no-cost and might work even better than the “outsourcing” thing.

Here’s why:

you’d have different type of authors with various writing styles and unique content ideas

you’d be able to grow your blog fast and keep readers happy

Here are some good posts targeting “posting frequency”:
