The Hottest Way to Get Traffic – Technorati or Google?
I’m not sure yet. I’ve seen Google send thousands of unique visitors and leads in the past years, for me, for my clients, and for my competitors.
Let’s see what others are thinking about Technorati. Could it be better than Google?
Let’s take the blogosphere pulse and find out, shall we?
First of all, let me share with you what Technorati is. The Google’s alternative for blogs (in a nutshell).
If you want to read wikipedia’s definition : “Technorati is an Internet search engine for searching blogs, competing with Google and Yahoo. As of June 2008, Technorati indexes 112.8 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media.[1] The name Technorati is a portmanteau, pointing to the technological version of literati or intellectuals.”
When you read Technorati’s “about” page you’ll quickly notice two major advantages:
1. you could get your blog indexed FAST in their huge database
2. you could receive a ton of free exposure just by being there and receiving links from other blogs
If you go even further you could talk with other bloggers listed on Technorati, make new friends, grow your readership and have fun.
Isn’t this enough, or what?
Not for me. So let’s find out even more.
Could Technorati help you get more traffic to your blog.
Could it be the hottest traffic strategy out there?
TechCrunch.com guys think that Google might ‘ban’ Technorati tags..
“But what really matters here is what Google thinks, and whether they will take steps sometime soon to remove those results from the Google index. If that were to happen, Technorati’s traffic would plummet. And their lucrative traffic party would come to an end.”

T. L. Pakii Pierce admits..
“This is yet another way to drive relevancy into the blogosphere and it’s fantastic and filter it.”

Dan @ TheWrongAdvices.com is negative about it..
“If your blog happens to be about Britney Spears or American Idol then you might be able to develop some consistant traffic but for most of us it looks like Technorati is a dead end.”

Tinu @ FreeTrafficTip.com even wrote a free book about it and here’s a cool tip..
“12- Link out to the littler. If you have one link in technorati, link to people who have none. They love and need you more than someone who is ranked in the top one hundred, and they’re likely to link back.”

I guess that Om Malik @ GigaOm.com got tired of it?
“So this is where I lose the plot – I tag my post, Technorati benefits, and despite all that, my tags help spammers who clog my RSS readers gain more readers. That’s absolutely rotten!”
